IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Fred
Young
August 29, 1947 – April 2, 2025
Willie Fred Young, affectionately known as "Fred," was born on August 29, 1947, in Donalsonville, Georgia, as the middle child to the late Lonnie R. Young and Willie Pearl Patterson Young.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School with the Class of 1965. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army as a member of the Army Signal Corps and was honorably discharged receiving the National Defense Service Medal in recognition of his service. After his military career, he was proudly employed with the United States Postal Service for 43 years before retiring in 2012.
Fred was a member of the Society for the Improvement of Brotherhood (SIB) and the Fraternal Order of Masons. He especially loved fishing, cooking for family and friends, and was a devoted Miami Dolphins fan.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son Jeffrey L. Young Sr., and his brother, Leroy Young.
He leaves the following loved ones to cherish his memory: Life partner, Scheron Taylor; Children, Torres "Torey" L. Young (Jenellie), Ebony T. Young (Cedric McArthur III), and Whitney L. Young (Christian Martin); Brother, Lewis T. Young Sr. (Katrina); Sister-in-law, Ethel E. Young; Grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Young Jr. (Bianca), Jordan Young-Zabrocki (Jake), Jayden Young, Jahmir McArthur, Cedric McArthur, Tyrie Young, and Bellamy Young; Nephews, Kacy L. Young (Janele) and Lewis T. Young Jr.; Great-grandchildren, Bailee Young and Brinlee Young; Great-niece, Kai S. Young; Best friends, Willie Meeks and Billy Smith; and a host of cousins, friends, and community members.
Above all, Fred will be remembered for his kindness and the wisdom he imparted throughout his life. He often ended conversations with a simple but meaningful reminder: "Be good." These words now stand as a lasting testament to the love and care he shared with everyone he met.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in the name of Willie Fred Young to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
