Obituary

William Knickerbocker passed peacefully on July 4, 2019 with his family beside at Embrace House Hospice in Myrtle Beach South Carolina near his son's home.  Bill was born October 15, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Clifford and Florence Knickerbocker.  He had one younger brother, Robert.  He is survived by his daughter Mary (Tom) Waco, Texas; son Steven (Christina)  Lawrence, Kansas and and son Christopher (LeAnn) Myrtle Beach South Carolina, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Bill served United States Army post World War II era as paratrooper.  After his military service he began in the service department at Sears in St Louis and over his his twenty-six year career ended as the National Automotive Hardlines Sales Marketing Director.  Bill purchased an AAMCO franchise in Kansas City Missouri in 1979 and subsequently opened two new locations in Olathe and Merriam in 1980 and 1891 which he ran with his wife Kathy.  His sons Steve and Chris joined him in the businesses until he retired 1996.
Bill met Kathleen Meisky in St Louis and they married in 1958.  She preceded him in death in 2017.  After their retirement in Kansas City they enjoyed living in Islamorada in the Florida Keys, sailing and traveling all over the world.  They were members of San Pedro Catholic Church.  Bill was a charming, driven, self made man and adventurer with an indomitable spirit, gift for storytelling and huge heart for his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:10 am July 10, 2019 at St. Mathew Catholic Church in Lake Worth Florida and Bill was laid to rest next to his wife in South Florida National Cemetery.
