William Drabyk, passed away quietly on July 9, 2013. As you all know, Alzheimer's disease took away his memory and his ability to speak and he had been in Lakeside Health Center for 4 1/2 years. The disease took its toll on him and we watched him slowly succumb to it. Thankfully, he was in a very comfortable environment and treated with a lot of TLC.

He was born February 25, 1925, in Turzansk, Poland. In 1938, he arrived in the US. He lived in Frackville, Pa and at age 18 he enlisted in the Army Air Force to serve his country in World War II.

After the war, he followed in his father's footsteps and learned the trade of tailoring. He had his own dry cleaning and tailoring business in Philadelphia, Pa. He eventually worked as quality control manager in the men's garment industry.

An active veteran, he was an officer in the Ukainian American Veterans and participated in many veteran activities.

Throughout his life he loved to snow ski, play tennis and ping pong. At the age of 64, he decided to become a marathon runner. He ran in 15 marathons throughout the US from Boston to Alaska.

He also had a passion for Chrysler 300s and bought a 1965 convertible to restore. He put a lot of time and effort into it and loved to drive it around on Sunday afternoons.

He will be missed by all his friends and family. May he rest in peace.
