Tate, Jr. George T. "Tony" entered into heaven on April 13, 2025, at the age of 95. The son of George and Sarah, he was born in Bellefonte, PA, in 1930.

After graduating from Tyrone Area High School, Tony attended Lock Haven College. He earned his bachelor's degree on a G.I. Bill from the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1953, serving in the Korean War. He then attended Florida State University and received his master's degree. He continued on to earn a doctorate degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Tony and his family relocated from Pennsylvania and Tallahassee to Lantana, and he began what would be a lifelong commitment to the Palm Beach County area. Tony worshipped at Our Savior Lutheran Church and was involved with L.W. Rotary Club. He was an avid traveler throughout the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico.

Eventually, Tony became both the Vice-President of Administration and Business Affairs and Interim President of the then Palm Beach Community College, serving in administration there for over 37 years and leading it through a tremendous period of growth. Tony was an initial member of the Walk of Fame, and the administration building at the college has his name in his honor.

Tony loved sports and was an excellent football player in high school and college, making the first Football Hall of Fame class at Lock Haven College. He truly loved watching his children and grandchildren excel in their sports.

He was the proud father of Rock Tate (Lyn), Lantana, and Patti Jo Tate-Stoutt, Loxahatchee. He was also a loving grandfather to Linda Andrews (Brendon) W.P.B. and Rock Tate, Jr. (Johanna) Bloomfield, NJ.

A service will be held at the Palm Beach National Funeral Home & Chapel, and an interment will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery.
