Obituary

THERESA ANN (CERULLO) McVEY

October 18, 1951 – June 19, 2026

Theresa Ann (Cerullo) McVey, 74, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on June 19, 2026.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 18, 1951, Theresa lived a life defined by love, laughter, resilience, and deep connections with family and friends. Confident, funny, stylish, witty, generous, smart, resourceful, and unapologetically herself, she had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved. She often wore bold lipstick, went barefoot, said exactly what she thought, and somehow managed to charm her way through almost anything.

Theresa attended St. Angela Hall and graduated from Marymount University. Throughout her life, she built a career centered on people, organization, and service. Before moving to Virginia, she worked in Manhattan, where her outgoing personality and strong work ethic left a lasting impression. She later served as a teaching assistant at Lake Ann Preschool and went on to become a Facilities Administrator with Kaiser Permanente, overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and personnel needs of medical offices.

Even after retirement, Theresa's energy and love of people drew her back to work. She later served as Office Administrator at Joynes & Gaidies, where she quickly became a beloved member of the team. Known for her sharp wit, practical wisdom, and unforgettable April Fools' Day pranks, Theresa brought laughter and warmth wherever she went. Former colleagues continued to speak fondly of her years after she left, a testament to the impact she made on those around her.

One of the greatest blessings of Theresa's life was her 40-year marriage to her beloved husband, Thom. The two met in Brooklyn and built a life grounded in friendship, partnership, and adventure. Together they shared a love of the seaside, spending years in Virginia before enjoying time between Florida, New York City, and the Outer Banks. They loved collecting modern art and contemporary furniture, remodeling homes, entertaining family and friends, and creating beautiful spaces together. Theresa especially enjoyed cooking, gathering loved ones around the table, arranging beautiful flowers, and spending time by the ocean. They also shared a special love for their dogs, Chelsea and Annie, who brought them years of companionship and joy.

Theresa's capacity for love knew no boundaries. She remained deeply involved in the lives of her family and friends, celebrating their accomplishments, offering encouragement, and making each person feel uniquely special. Distance never diminished those relationships. Whether through phone calls, FaceTime conversations, surprise packages, favorite treats, or simply checking in to say hello, she found ways to stay connected to the people she loved.

For many, Theresa was a source of confidence, strength, and encouragement. She inspired others to be brave, take chances, and believe in themselves. Her adventurous spirit, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty created memories that will be treasured forever. Whether hosting family and friends, sharing stories around the table, decorating a home, planning an adventure, or simply enjoying a long conversation, Theresa found joy in bringing people together. Family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers were drawn to her warmth, authenticity, thoughtfulness, and generosity. She had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas "Thom" McVey; her parents, Gennaro and Gertrude Cerullo; her sisters, Nancy Pearson and Jenny O'Connor; her brother, Anthony Cerullo; and her beloved nephew, William O'Connor III.

She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Romeo; her nieces and nephews, Peter Romeo, Lorin Romay, Brian Romeo, Michelle DiBartolomeo, Anthony Cerullo, Zachary Cerullo, and Angelina Pearson; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Gianna Romeo, Dominic Romeo, Rose Romay, Olivia DiBartolomeo, Angelo DiBartolomeo, Mason O'Connor, and Rocco O'Connor, along with countless friends whom she truly considered family.

Those who knew Theresa will remember her laughter, her pranks, her confidence, her fierce independence, her generous heart, and her ability to bring joy into any room she entered. Her family takes comfort in imagining her reunited with Thom, the love of her life and best friend, along with the many loved ones who welcomed her home.

In keeping with Theresa's wishes, no formal services are planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa's memory to the National Kidney Foundation

The family encourages those who loved Theresa to honor her memory by sharing a story, enjoying a favorite treat, wearing bold lipstick, embracing life's adventures, and caring for others with the same generosity and warmth she shared so freely.
