"We have lost our mom, our heart, our soul, our everything."
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sybil Joyce Reynolds, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on June 21, 2026, in Wellington, Florida. She was born in Bath, St. Thomas, Jamaica on December 27, 1936, to parents Adassa Johnson and Joel Kelly. She was 89 years old.
Sybil leaves behind her devoted husband, Dudley Reynolds, cherished children Gregory, Charmaine and Gillian, grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her presence. While her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy of love, kindness, wisdom, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born with a gentle spirit and a compassionate heart, Sybil was exceptional in every way. She was a proud graduate of Mico Teachers College in Jamaica, West Indies and later attended Hunter College in New York City, where she earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. Her passion was teaching.
An outstanding educator, Sybil dedicated more than 35 years of her life to shaping young minds and inspiring future generations. Throughout her distinguished career with the Department of Education, Jamaica West Indies and the New York Public School System, New York City, she touched the lives of countless students through her knowledge, patience, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Sybil carried herself with grace, dignity, and professionalism. Her poised demeanor, integrity, and warm personality earned the respect and admiration of everyone she encountered. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel valued and welcomed. Simply put, when you met Sybil, you loved her.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sybil's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a treasured friend, and a source of strength and comfort to those around her. Her love was unconditional, her guidance unwavering, and her generosity boundless.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind and in the countless lives she touched throughout her journey. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her love will remain forever woven into the fabric of our lives.
