IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley
Caro
September 6, 1946 – March 5, 2020
Shirley Feivish Caro born in New York on September 6, 1946 died March 5, 2020, peacefully in her sleep in her home in Florida.
Shirley lived in New Rochelle, NY most of her life, retiring to Florida in 2013. Along with her mom Sarah, father Joe (she was a total daddy's girl) and sister Donna, summers were spent in the Catskill Mountains. This is where she met her first husband, and together they had their daughters Robin and Aly, who attended all the same schools as their mom growing up- Davis, Albert Leonard and New Rochelle High School. 2 nd husband Roger Caro was her partner in everything for almost 35 years. Her childhood love of fashion was reflected in her fashion choices as an adult- always wearing fun prints, colors, sparkles and lots of jewelry. Shirley took pride in her appearance, making sure her makeup and nails were always perfect. Everyone at work was always amazed at how fast she could type with those long nails! Her fluency in writing shorthand both at work and at home meant only she could read the notes she wrote. Shirley could make the most serious of folks laugh with her humor and practical jokes. Her coworkers quickly became close friends. Shirley was beyond proud of her grandchildren. She was the ultimate GG (Grandma Glitter) a name she earned and wore with pride because her makeup and clothing turned her newborn grandson into a disco ball. She spoiled her grandchildren like any good Jewish grandmother would, with loads of hugs, kisses and presents. When Shirley and Roger retired to Florida, she found the life she always wanted. Days were filled with pool-time and suntans, and evenings were filled with socializing with her large group of friends, who she also considered family. Her daughters always teased her that she became a teenager again.
Survived by her daughters Alyson Grubard (NYC) and Robin Grubard (Bethel, Ct), son-in-law Rob Wallace, two grandchildren Bryce Wallace (16) and Ascha Wallace (12). Sister and brother-in-law Donna and Mark Wasserman (Baltimore, MD) and their daughters. First cousins Norma and Harvey Gutlz. Uncle Sol and Aunt Pat (Las Vegas, NV) and many other close cousins. Shirley is also survived by her beloved dog, Joey. Predeceased by her parents Joseph Feivish, Sarah (Mazer) Feivish, cousin Sheila (Baskin) Frishwasser and husband Roger Caro.
There will be a graveside service at South Florida National Cemetery (lane #1) on March 10th at 10:30 am, followed by a celebration of life at Lucerne Lakes Clubhouse at 4119 Lucerne Lakes Blvd. Friends and family will be sitting Shiva at Shirley's home on Monday, March 9 and Wednesday, March 11 from 3 - 8.
