Roy Q. Lane, 88, Went into the waiting arms of the Lord on June 29, 2012. Roy was born October 8, 1923 in Lake Park, Georgia to the late Roy Mathis & Iva Josaphine (Carroll) Lane and moving to the Belle Glade area shortly after his birth. He served his country in the United States Navy in Work War II, where he as a machinist mate. After he received and honorable discharge he return to his home in Belle Glade where he went to work with his father and brother at Lane's Machine Shop where they developed a radish, corn and celery picking machines that were used in the fields. He then joined the Florida Games & Fish Commission where he raised to the rank of Lieutenant, in later years headed up their machine shop where he built several of the buggies, half tracks and airboats that are still in use today he retired in 1983 with over 30 years of service. He is predeceased by his son Larry Derr. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley (Derr) Lane; daughters, Tina Lane of West Palm Beach, Theresa Derr of St. Mary's, GA and Faye Hickman of TN; his loving grandchildren, Jeremy Sheridan of West Palm Beach, Tracy (Heather) Derr of Leesburg, FL, Derick Derr of Charleston, SC, Jon (Leslie) Gonzales of Murfreesboro, TN, Jennifer Richardson of St. Mary's GA and Larry Rawl of TN; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service for Roy will be held 11:30 am Friday, July 6, 2012 at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth with military honors.
