Ronald K. Goeldenitz, 88, died August 14th, 2020 in Delray Beach, FL.
A military funeral will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery on September 21st, 2020 for immediate family only due to COVID19.
Ronald was born on May 17th, 1932 in Hamburg, Germany to Rudolf and Marie Goeldenitz.
He worked on the Italian passenger ship MS Italia in 1952 and immigrated to the United States that same year.
He served in the United Stated Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in the early 1950's and became a US citizen in 1955.
Ronald worked in New York City as a banquet manager at the same hotel for 35 years from 1962 through his retirement in 1997. The hotel was initially known as the Americana Hotel. It later became the Sheraton New York Hotel.
He was very proud of his military service and was seen wearing an 82nd Airborne Division cap throughout his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, photography and watching soccer. In 2015 he moved to Florida to be closer to his son.
He is survived by his son and his spouse, Thomas and Michelle Goeldenitz; grandson, Thomas Jr. and his spouse Miyuki Goeldenitz and two great grandchildren Thomas III and Lydia Goeldenitz.
