Ronald Douglas Boyd, 75, died January 8, 2014 at his home in Boca Raton, Fl. He was born on October 14, 1938 in his home in Gainesville, Fl, the son of Robert Douglas Boyd and Geneva Baisden Boyd. He lived with his parents on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas during World War II until he was six. He attended Miami, Florida schools and graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1957. He attended Florida State University until he had to leave to assist his family while his father was dying of cancer. Then he attended electronic tech school in Miami, obtaining a job at RCA in Palm Beach Gardens working on the second generation of computers. He joined the US Navy in 1962 and served as an electronic technician on board the US Suribachi, an ammunition ship. He married his wife, Dorothy Dean Rodabaugh, on August 3, 1963 and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. When he was discharged from the US Navy, he returned to work at RCA and they lived in Palm Beach Gardens. After attempting to attend college at night, he quit RCA and returned to college fulltime, graduating from FAU in 1969 with a BS in Finance. After working at the FAU Foundation for a few years, he served as the Executive Director of the Palm Beach County Development Board for a while. When he left that position, he was trained in New York City as a stockbroker by Reynolds & Co. He was a stockbroker at various firms for about 10 years. Later he became a seafood distributor for a Florida firm. For the last 20 or more years, he has developed his own food manufacturing company which produces Carribean Style Conch Fritters which is nationally distributed by wholesalers.

Being a native Floridian, he loved the outdoors, especially the ocean. He was always happy to be ocean fishing, especially for dolphin and wahoo. He was a devoted family man and cherished his family: his wife, Dorothy, and their two children and their four well loved grandchildren. Their son, Robert Douglas Boyd, is the head pastor of Salt Church of Boca Raton and married to Lisa Forester Boyd and have three children: Robert, Liam, and Katerina. Their daughter, Leslie Diane Boyd (Ezell) is married to Daniel Stewart Ezell, and have a son, Saxon. He leaves a sister, Mildred, who resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado and her three children, Keith, Rochelle and Vernita. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Connie Moore who resides in Montgomery, AL and her two sons, David and Michael. His many friends and his family will dearly miss this wonderfully generous man who loved to tell interesting stories about his different experiences. He was a devoted Christian and loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and showed it in his everyday activities.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Victory Christian Center, 3499 NW Boca Raton Blvd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his church, Salt Church of Boca Raton, 501 NE 32nd Street, Boca Raton, Fl, 33431or www.saltchurchboca.com. In a couple of weeks, his remains will be interred at the Palm Beach National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Fl.
