Robert J. Meissler's Obituary
Robert J. Meissler, 73, of Tequesta, FL passed away at his home, Friday, August 5, 2011.
Mr. Meissler was born December 25, 1937 in Queens, New York.
He attended John Adams High School in South Ozone Park, New York.
In the summer of 1954, he met Roberta Lindenbaum.
Robert started serving in Navy in 1956 and served as radioman on the USS Krishna, ARL-38, a landing craft repair ship, docked at Little Creek in Norfolk, VA.
On February 9, 1957 he married Roberta.
After returning to New York in 1958 after discharge and partnered with father, Julius Meissler, in combination gas station / auto repair shop.
In 1958 his daughter, Lillian born and his son, Saul in 1961.
Was active in Lindenhurst Hebrew Congregation for many years and belonged to the South Bay Audubon Society. Enjoyed birding activities, including yearly bird counts.
He retired in 2000 and moved to Tequesta, FL in 2007, where he became member of Everglades Audubon Society. Actively supported enviornmental causes.
Some of his favorite activities were gardening, fishing, walking along nature trails looking for "life" birds, doing his own car and home repairs, playing games, lately dominos and he had a great sense of humor!
Service: The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm at Palm Beach National Chapel, 10055 Heritage Farms Road, Lake Worth, FL 33449. Interment will follow at 1:15pm at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449
