Bob, born Sept. 10, 1927, Leominster MA, son of Arthur and Elaine (Tomlette) Laverdiere. Survived by wife Blanche Laverdiere and five daughters, Diana Kuebler of Lantana, FL, Donna (James Katz) Laverdiere of Haddonfield, NJ, Elaine Gunteski of Coconut Creek, FL, Janet Laverdiere of Boca Raton, FL, and Marie Laverdiere of East Hampton, CT. Surviving family members also include his sister Theresa (Thaddeus) Borek, grandchildren Kimberly (Rigoberto)Lopez, Julia (Stewart) Simon, Joshua Katz, Sarah Katz, Paul Burruezo, Matthew Burruezo and great grandchildren, Olivia and Keaton Lopez. Bob is pre-deceased by his grandson James Kuebler.
Bob served his country during World War II and the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Bob attended the University of Florida, where he obtained his degree in engineering. He was employed as an industrial engineer at Picatinny Arsenal and retired in 1979 after 25 years of government service. During his tenure at Picatinny, he developed innovative metallurgical processes and traveled abroad to teach production and quality control techniques.
While living in Northern New Jersey, he designed and constructed the family home, which included the framing, plumbing, electrical, cabinetry and extensive gardens. Bob continued his love of skilled woodworking as his hobby. His accomplishments included constructing large ship models, as well as grandfather clocks.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Monday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Lake Worth. Interment will be a private service at South Florida National Veterans Cemetery.
