Robert Gravens
(April 13, 1931 - December 17, 2025)
Robert Gravens, 94, of Delray Beach, FL went to be with Jesus on December 17, 2025. He is survived by son Bruce Gravens, daughter Elaine Eckel, son Mark Gravens, 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife Betty Gravens, son Kent Gravens, brother Elsworth Gravens, and sisters Lois Hannar, and Ann Carpenter.
Robert was born April 13, 1931 to JT and Rose Gravens in Winfield, MO. He married the love of his life Betty Simpson on February 2, 1951 and enjoyed nearly 72 years of marriage raising three sons, a daughter and one nephew, Jess Hannar. Robert served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. Robert parlayed the skills he acquired in the Air Force as a communications specialist into a 30+ year career with IBM Corporation where he advanced from a computer service technician to an engineering position in service cost estimation for IBM's mainframe computers. After retirement, he was a part-time RVer and part-time golf cart mechanic at Boca Aire. Robert and Betty traveled in their Class A motorcoach to the pacific northwest and Wyoming between May and October for more than two decades volunteering at various National Parks and National Forests throughout the region. Between November and April they relished life in their longterm Lake Ida neighborhood home in Delray Beach. He enjoyed photography, hiking, traveling and all things outdoors. He was an active and enthusiastic member of First Baptist Church of Delray Beach since 1967.
In lieu of flowers we invite you to make a donation in his honor to First Baptist Church Delray Beach Florida.
