IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Franke
December 14, 1933 – October 3, 2020
Robert A. Franke of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the age of 86. After several months of declining health, Robert died peacefully with family by his side. He was born in Irwin, PA on December 14, 1933, to the late Stephen and Katherine Franke.
He proudly served in the Army from 1953 to 1956, achieving the rank of senior specialist SP2 and being awarded a National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged he married the love of his life, Sally Ann Harshey and then graduated from Grove City College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He started his career with Armstrong Flooring but spent most of his time in the pharmaceutical industry working for Johnson & Johnson, Key Pharmaceutical, Schering Plough and Ivax Corporation.
He loved sports. In his early years he was an avid baseball and basketball player. Later in life he picked up tennis and golf. And he always enjoyed watching a good football game, especially if it involved his beloved Hurricanes or Steelers. He also enjoyed a good card game of bridge or canasta.
But above all else Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a truly a good man. Decency, reliability, honor, dignity and respect; these were qualities he practiced every day. He led and taught by example. His family, his circle of friends and the world are all better because of him and he will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally H. Franke; sister and brother-in-law Delores and Carl Nosse, children Mark Franke (Jeanny), Dana Kretschmar (Bill) and Kirk Franke (Lori); grandchildren Reece, Jensyn, Jordan, Justin, Carson and Crosby.
Visitation and Memorial services will be held at 10:00 and 11:00 AM, Monday, October 26, 2020 at West Palm Beach National Chapel on 10055 Heritage Farms Rd, Lake Worth, FL 33449. Burial will follow in South Florida National Cemetery at 6501 SR7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
