Richard Saunders, age 57, passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Community Living Center of the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, surrounded by family.

He was born February 8, 1954 in Brookline, Massachusetts and currently lived in Florida. Rick served in the U.S. Army for ten years, continuing his education to become a Specialist Four, who was officially commended for his exceptional performance of duties.

Rick is survived by one daughter, Katie Saunders of FL; mother Louise Goren of FL; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Paul Chelman of MA; stepbrother Jeff Goren of FL; and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Melvin E. Saunders and stepfather Milton Goren.

Private graveside services, celebrating Rick's life will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449, with Military Honors.
