IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Raymond
Laney
April 10, 1944 – April 4, 2025
Richard Raymond Laney, 80, of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Derry, New Hampshire, passed away surrounded by loved ones and exceptional caregivers. Born in Derry, Richard built a life full of hard work, humor, and deep devotion to family.
Richard began his career in the car rental industry, rising to the role of National Maintenance Director. Never one to sit still, he later became an entrepreneur, founding Delray Auto Sales and expanding it to Lantana Auto Sales, building the businesses from the ground up. He was well known at the auto auctions for his enthusiastic catchphrase: "Look at the cars!"
He approached life with a "get to the bottom of the problem" attitude, always seeking solutions, but never missing the chance to share a big laugh and brighten someone's day. Richard was deeply proud of his family's history, especially his mother Eunice's connection to St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry, and cherished his close bond with his brother, Robert Laney, and Robert's family.
As a father, he was endlessly supportive and loving to his three children: Brian Laney, Greg Laney (and wife Karen), and JoAnn Laney Weinberg (and husband David). His pride extended with great joy to his four grandchildren, whom he adored and cheered on at every opportunity: Laney and Jake Weinberg, and Zach and Sarah Laney. He was a constant presence at Laney's gymnastics and cheer competitions, often spotted at Jake's soccer games and football matches. Richard eagerly followed Zach's sports journey, particularly his football and wrestling accomplishments, and supported Sarah throughout her softball career, from her early games all the way through high school.
A lover of racquetball in his younger years, Richard stayed energized with his personal mottos: "Fire up!" and "Proper preparation brings on proper results." These sayings captured his outlook on life and inspired those around him.
Richard is survived by his children, grandchildren and his former spouse and remembered fondly by his extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, including his mother Eunice, whose faith was a guiding light,
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided Richard with exceptional comfort and compassion in his final days.
