IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul J
Albano
September 11, 1940 – June 24, 2019
Paul J. Albano, 78, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2019
at Trustbridge Hospice in Delray Beach from a rare brain disease. Paul was born in
Brooklyn, NY on September 11, 1940 and was a long time resident of Lindenhurst, NY.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Josephine Albano; daughters
Caroline Seavey, Kathryn Franklin, and Nicole Albano; son-in-laws Noah and Ed; and
grandchildren Rachael, Max, Judah, Saray, Pamela and Victoria.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Caroline Albano; his sisters
Fannie Giannoni and Francine Himes, and brother-in-law Roger Himes.
Paul served in the US Navy for 4 years and was a police officer for the New York City
Police Department (NYPD) for 20 years. During this time, he was a student at New York
Institute of Technology. After retiring from NYPD in 1986, he continued to work in
flooring sales and retired completely in 2002.
Paul always loved music and began singing with his friends when he was 14 years old.
He was the original first tenor of The Five Discs, a doo-wop group founded in 1954. This
group had regional hits in the northeast from 1958 through 1962 including "I Remember"
in 1958 and "Never Let You Go" in 1962. Paul was the lead singer for "I Don't Know
What I'll Do" released in 1961. He performed with the Five Discs for decades. Paul was
also a member of another doo-wop group called The Five Boroughs.
Paul met the love of his life, Josephine, in Brooklyn, NY when he was 16 and married
her when he was 22. A few years later, Paul and his wife moved to Long Island where
they raised their three daughters. In 1999, Paul and his wife moved to Florida to escape
the cold weather and retire.
Paul loved running, golfing, billiards (he was a member of the Floral Lakes Billiards
Team), exercising, art, food, traveling and taking cruises with his wife, spending time
with his family and friends, and playing the harmonica for his grandchildren. Paul had
skilled hands and could fix just about anything around the house. He was always willing
to help his family and friends with their repair needs. He was very creative and spent
long hours painting and building beautiful decorative pieces for his home. Paul was a
devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He had a great sense
of humor and liked to make people laugh, even when he was ill. Paul was surrounded
by his loved ones who shared good memories, played his favorite music, sang with him,
and kept him as comfortable as possible while he was in Delray Medical Center and
later in Trustbridge Hospice. One of the last things he said while he was still able to talk
was, "I have a wonderful wife, three wonderful daughters, I was able to meet all six of
my grandchildren, and I traveled the world. I definitely had a full life."
Paul will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
