Oscar Leopoldo Cerna, age 81, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Delray Beach, Florida. He was born on September 9, 1944, in Lima, Peru.
Oscar was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who dedicated his life to his family.
In the early 1980s, he made the courageous decision to bring his family to the United States in search of greater opportunities and a promising future for his children. Through hard work, determination, and sacrifice, he helped build the foundation for the life his family enjoys today.
Oscar was known for his strong character, hardworking nature, and unforgettable sense of humor. He loved making people laugh and was famous for his jokes that could bring laughter to any room he entered. His humor and personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Though stubborn at times, he had a deeply loving and caring heart. Above all, he loved his family and took pride in providing for them and being present in their lives.
In retirement, Oscar enjoyed spending time relaxing and watching hockey games with his beloved wife, Flor de Liz, the love of his life since they were young teenagers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Flor de Liz Cerna; his children Oscar, Fanny, and Foshie; his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his mother Nelida; his brother Carlos; his sisters Haydee, Elba, Ana, and Carmen; and many nieces and nephews.
He had a gift for making people laugh, and his humor will continue to echo in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Palm Beach National Funeral Home and Chapel, 10055 Heritage Farms Rd., Lake Worth, FL 33449
