Obituary

We are sad to share that our Mother, Mary Louise Goldberg, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Oscar Meredith Schumacher and Mary Julia Taylor (Trainor) on October 11, 1937. She grew up in Baltimore with her two younger brothers, William Meredith Schumacher and Lester Howard Schumacher. Later, after her mother remarried, she welcomed another brother, David Taylor. Mary attended Baltimore-area Catholic schools and was a proud graduate of Towson High School in Maryland. Mary lived, worked, and raised her family in Baltimore and the surrounding area until permanently moving to Lake Worth, Florida in 2010.

Mary was happily married to Marvin Goldberg for over 46 years, until his death on October 10, 2021.

Mary was also preceded in death by her son Lawrence H. Goldberg, her brother Lester H. Schumacher, and her sister-in-law Helena (Sue) Taylor.

Mary is survived by her daughters Patricia A. Lamond (Rafael Torres), Deborah L. Palardy (Mark), Sharon E. Solimini (Steven); daughter-in-law Deborah Goldberg; brothers William Schumacher (Pat) and David Taylor; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Theresa Schumacher; brother-in-law Jeffrey Goldberg (Marlesa); sisters-in-law Cookie Baden and Bonnie Roth (Scott); beloved nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends.

Mary was a member of the Red Hat Hot Mamas Chapter of the Red Hat Society; she embraced the sisterhood, friendships, activities, and fun. Mary also enjoyed her membership in the Town and Country Garden Club of Lake Worth and looked forward to the fellowship, events, and educational outings. She was an active member of the Towson High School Alumnae Association.

Mary's happy place was the beach; she loved the warm sun, mild breeze, and gentle waves splashing on her legs. She loved traveling, going on cruises with her husband, shopping for the best deals—for herself and others, Bingo, playing cards, and enjoying friends during cocktails on her best friend Olga's patio.

Mary's greatest love and passion were her family and friends. She was the perfect example of the best loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Her needs always came second to those she loved. She was dedicated to her husband Marvin for over 46 years and spent every moment she could by his side until he passed away from Lewy Body Disease. She cherished and was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and their accomplishments and took every opportunity to spend time with them and FaceTime with them. It brought her great joy to share holidays, celebrations, and family gatherings with them and her extended family and friends. She so loved hosting those gatherings, especially Christmas, and welcomed anyone to attend—the more, the merrier.

Our Mother's special gifts to all who knew her were her unconditional love and her incredible strength and resilience. She was kind, thoughtful, nonjudgmental, and welcoming. She was always there to lend a listening ear, provide advice and guidance, cook a delicious meal, and tend to the needs of others. She was truly wonderful, and we are forever blessed that she was in our lives. We miss her so much.
