Marvin Goldberg, age 80, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Lewy Body Disease in Lakeworth, Florida on Sunday, October 10, 2021. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Leon and Rose (Oppel) Goldberg on March 5, 1941. He grew up in Baltimore with three siblings, Cookie, Bonnie, and Jeffrey. Marvin graduated from Baltimore City College and the University of Maryland School Of Pharmacy.
Marvin was married to Mary Louise Goldberg for over 46 years; they wed on June 14, 1975.
Marvin retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army on March 5, 2001 after more than 20 years of service. Throughout his life, he lived the Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, and personal courage.
He enjoyed a 50 year career as a pharmacist and was highly regarded for his professionalism and care for those he served.
Marvin was a member of the pharmaceutical Fraternity Alpha Zeta Omega, Kappa branch and a 37 year Member of the Masonic Tuscan Lodge #202 A.F & A.M. and then Mt. Moriah Lodge #116, West
Chesapeake Avenue, Towson, Maryland. He was a Master Mason.
Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence H. Goldberg who died on July 11, 2019 at the age of 50 and his brother-in-law Lester H. Schumacher.
He is survived by his spouse Mary; daughters Patricia A. Lamond (Rafael Torres), Deborah L. Palardy (Mark), Sharon E. Solimini (Steven); daughter-in-law Deborah Goldberg; sisters Cookie Baden, Bonnie Roth (Scott); brother Jeffrey Goldberg (Marlesa); 13 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister-in-law Theresa Schumacher; brothers-in-law William Schumacher (Pat) and David Taylor (Sue); and cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marvin was a genuine family man; he exemplified what a husband and father should be; and he always put others before himself. He was truly devoted to his wife Mary and every day, through his words, deeds, and actions, demonstrated his love for her and how important it was to him to make her happy. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and provided caring support and guidance. He took every opportunity to spend time with them, and it brought him great joy to share holidays, celebrations, and family gatherings with them and his extended family.
Marvin also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with his wife; watching sports and rooting for the Baltimore Ravens; and reading.
