IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margarete
Weiss
December 25, 1928 – May 28, 2020
Margarete (Greta) passed away peacefully at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida. She was surrounded by her family, her artwork, books and pictures of the life she lived. Born on Christmas Day in Vienna Austria in 1928 she later immigrated to the United States in 1958. Margarete lived in White Plains and Queens, New York and then moved to Stamford, Connecticut before retiring in Florida over 30 years ago.
She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) of Boynton Beach, FL, sons, Richard G. Weiss (Pamela) of Branford, CT and Michael Weiss of Boynton Beach, FL, her grandchildren, Jenna (Anthony) Giordano and Richard T. Weiss and great grandson, Brody Giordano, all of Branford, CT. Margarete also leaves behind her two sisters Annemarie Bildsteiner and Elfriede Stemprock of Vienna, Austria, along with her extended family. She was predeceased by her parents and her Brother Arthur Eisen.
While in Austria, Margarete earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and Psychology. She worked as a Governess in Italy and a School Teacher in Vienna. After immigrating to the United States she married Bob and raised her family. After raising her children, Greta returned to work as a Real Estate Broker and a Financial Planner on the New York Futures Exchange.
Upon retiring to Florida, Greta became reacquainted with many of her hobbies including tennis, gardening, playing cards with friends and painting. Greta was also a Parishioner of St Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach where she attended mass each Sunday (4 th row from the front). One of her lifelong dreams was to own a Floral Shop, so she went back to work for the next 10 years in sales at Floral Emporium in West Palm Beach. Of all her careers that was the one she enjoyed the most.
Greta (Omi) enjoyed visits from her grandchildren Jenna and Ricky, which gave her a chance to spoil them. Greta and Bob traveled the world, but they mostly looked forward to their yearly trips back home to Vienna to spend time with her family. She loved to learn and keep her mind active. She kept up with current events, politics and spoke four languages (German, Italian, English and Russian). Greta was an avid trivia fan, she kept up these skills by watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and engaging in Alexa's "Question of the Day" and using her iPad to study her foreign languages. Greta lived a wonderful, fulfilling life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
