Maiker Fernandez
(April 3, 1992 - December 30, 2013)
Maiker Fernandez was born on April 3, 1992 to Ileana Fernandez in Miami, FL. She married Dexter Guzman who raised Maiker like his biological son since his birth. Maiker has two sisters and one brother. Maiker growing up was like a little Tasmanian devil, full of energy, couldn't stay still. His amount of energy and determination proved to be an asset in following his dream of being a military man. He graduated from Miami Sunset Senior High School in 2010 and enlisted in the Army right after graduation. He grew up to become a loving, caring and thoughtful young man.
He was matured for his age. He helped provide for his mother, brother and sisters. He also had a special bond with his grandmother, Cruz Guzman. Maiker would do little things to let you know he was thinking of you even though he was far away. Maiker had a big heart and a big personality.
Maiker Fernandez was a Sergeant in the Army, an infantryman assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division.
Since he was young, he always spoke of entering in the military. That was his life's passion. When he joined the Army, we feared for his safety since the World was in such turmoil. He returned home safety. He re-enlisted for another term. On leave from the army, tragedy took him too soon. Maiker was loved and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Maiker Fernandez is survived by his mother, his two sisters and brother: Ileana Fernandez, Giannia, Igiannet, and Gian Fran; by his father and grandmother: Dexter Guzman, Cruz Guzman and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is also survived by his biological father, Maiquer Garcia.
