Obituary

Louis Mario Polizzi, age 88, went to join our heavenly Father on August 9 th , 2021. He passed away unexpectedly but very peacefully.  Louis was born on December 7, 1932 in Rochester NY. His parents were Joseph Polizzi and Angelina (Blandino) Polizzi both of which have left this world. He was raised in Rochester NY.  After high school he entered the military and eventually ended up in Naval Air as a radio operator primarily on his favorite plane, the Super Constellation. He served two years in Hawaii at Hickam Air Force base, flying in and out.  He then served two years in Atlantic City which is where he met his future wife, the love of his life, at a U.S.O. dance at Atlantic City Naval Air Station. Lou married his love, Arlene Mary Lape on April 27, 1957.  They were married for 60 beautiful years until his precious wife left to be with the Lord. Together they raised 3 children. Preceded in death by his oldest son Joseph Polizzi, Louis is survived by his other son Daniel (Sam) Polizzi, and daughter Terri (Daniel) Snyder. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brianna (Polizzi) Shores, Jerry C Leakey, Barbara (Polizzi) Sirks, Karlin (Polizzi) Wong, Tara (Peck) Nelson, Joey Polizzi and Kayla (Snyder) Frazao,  He was blessed to become a great grandfather to 9 beautiful great grandchildren: He is survived by his 8 great grandchildren Hugh, Lena, Levacy, Stella, Reed, Sylar,  Annabella, and Lucia.  He was preceded in death by baby Noah.  Louis is also survived by his precious sister Josephine (Polizzi) Potenza whom he had a very close relationship with and loved so much.  He was preceded in death by his other sister Angie (Polizzi) Ferrara who he also was extremely close to.  He is also survived by his two sister in laws, Wanda (Lape) Berthold and Sharon (Lape) Laltrello.  Louis was an Air Conditioning Technician for years before changing career paths and becoming a barber.  He founded Lou's Hairport and ran that business for years with his wife, daughter and Amy Kelso (who he treated so much like a daughter that many customers thought he had 2 daughters.)   He loved his work and though he attempted to retire at 73 he was bored so he went right back to barbering and continued until he was 85 years old. He always had a strong work ethic.  Just a day before he passed he was hanging shutters on his house.  He was the project man.  The neighbors always saw him outside working on something.  He was also always available to help them.  If something was broke, that man could fix it.  There was never any slowness in his steps.  He had things to do and they were going to get done.  But the most important thing to him was his love for the Lord.  He loved to share the gospel with anybody that would listen.  Being a barber gave him lots of opportunities to share the Word of God.   He was a great barber, the king of flattops! So with him you were going to get a great haircut and conversation. His clients were his captive audience. Lol  Whether he was sharing the word or talking about airplanes or how to fix or repair something.  He was a very wise man and loved to share and to teach.  His favorite verse was John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." He would often encourage people to memorize that verse and keep it close to their hearts.  He has now passed from death unto life and I'm sure he is being embraced by all of his loved ones that have been waiting for him and in the presence of our Lord but for us still on this earth, we will miss him dearly until the day we meet again.

A funeral will be held at Palm Beach National Chapel on August 19 th .  Visitation will be at 11:00am with his service beginning at noon.  He will be laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery.
