IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorraine Marjorie
Lentsch
April 12, 1925 – January 13, 2023
Lorraine Marjorie Lentsch from Lake Worth, FL entered heaven gracefully on January 13,2023.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter Peggy Gust, son Robert Lentsch (Debbie), granddaughter Charlene Thompson (Andrew), grandsons Dan Lentsch (Nina), Tim Lentsch, and Matthew Lentsch (Kailey); great grandchildren Joelle Gomez (Miquel), Danielle Groover (Dan), Landon Lentsch, Ellie Lentsch, and Owen Lentsch; great great grandchildren Sadie Groover and Colt Groover. Also the Lentsch Clan, Zinkes, Johnstons, and Howards.
Lorraine was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she was a member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending with her grandmother, Martha Howard. She loved the game of baseball and could be found playing in the neighborhood with the boys. One such boy, (Alvin), would crash her 13th birthday party, and as they say… "The rest is history". She would marry Alvin Lentsch in 1944 and would soon travel the globe for 30 years as a military wife. Their 74 year marriage would be filled with adventures as well as marked by service. She held many offices in various clubs and volunteered in the military hospitals.
Together with their 2 children they would settle in Florida. As a result of their 4 year tour in Japan, she loved the Japanese culture. In 1977 she joined the Japan- American Society as a historian as well as volunteering in many roles at the Morikami Museum for over 30 years.
In 1974, Lorraine began her work in genealogy and was a volunteer at the Palm Beach County Genealogy Library for 37 years. She served as President, Chairman of the board, Chairman of the cemetery project as well as a teacher at the annual seminars. She was a delegate to The Federation of Genealogy Societies as well as the board of directors at the Center for Multi-Cultural Affairs of Palm Beach Junior College. During her son's high school years she was a librarian at Lake Worth High School.
Her house was always open to family and friends and she was known as the "Hostess with the Mostess" to all who visited. She made friends in all her travels and always had a kind word, soft voice, and a big heart.
In family conversations it was always noted that we all wanted to be like "Lorraine" a great role model who was charitable, good natured, and a mover and a shaker. No grass grew under her feet as she was always on the go giving herself to others. A true example of the "Proverbs 31 Women" who will be forever missed!
