IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katharina
Militello

IN LOVING MEMORY OF KATHARINA MILITELLO
MARCH 28, 1929 - DECEMBER 2, 2022
Katharina "Katie" Militello left our world to be with the Lord and her husband, Danny on December 2, 2022.
She was born in Oppenheim, Germany on March 28, 1929 the oldest of three girls. Katie met her husband, Danny, an American GI stationed in Germany in March 1945 when she was 16. What followed was an extraordinary love affair lasting almost 70 years.
In November 1946, after months of separation from her husband, Katie and her 4-month-old son, Robert were able to join Danny in America. At 17 she moved into the Militello home in Brooklyn NY with Danny's family. Katie faced the dauntless task of adjusting to the Italian American culture far from her home and family in Germany.
In April '48 Katie and Danny were blessed with a daughter, Marlene, and in July 1953 another girl, Linda was born. Eleven grandchildren would enlarge the family and seventeen great-grandchildren would be privileged to call Katie, Gross Oma
(Great Grandmother).
Oma and Opa were revered by their grandchildren Such extraordinary role models are rare these days and each child, grandchild, and great grandchild; seeing how Danny and Katie conducted themselves knew love was best shown not in just words but also in deeds.
In Proverbs chapter 31 verses 10-31, there is a description of what the Lord calls a virtuous woman. Verse 27 reads " She looketh well to her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness."
Until her last months, Katie was the antithesis of idleness. Hands that knitted, sewed, crocheted, gardened, painted and cooked delicious food were golden hands and a gift from God. A lasting testimony of her desire to put a smile on the faces of those she loved.
Verse 10 of Proverbs 31 speaks to those who knew Katie. "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies."
Katie, your life was such a blessing, rejoice now and take your rest.
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalms 30:5(b)
Katharina is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Daniel, and her sister, Erika LeClair.
