Joy Merritt Brooke, age 82, of Palm Beach Gardens, went to her home in heaven on July 11, 2016. Joy was a selfless, humble, dedicated servant of the Lord. Her life was spent loving and serving others at home and at her church, First Baptist Lake Park. With a heart for children, she faithfully served in the church's Children's Ministry for over 30 years. Having the gift of hospitality, she and her husband Art opened their hearts and home to all. There they freely offered food, a listening ear, acceptance, love, hope through Jesus, and even a temporary home to others in need. Joy loved her family deeply. After 61 years of marriage and 3 months apart, she is now reunited with her beloved husband Art. She is survived by three siblings, Joan (Glenn) Jones, Tex (Judy) Merritt, and Hal (Barbara) Merritt. She is also survived by four children, Ron (Debbi) Brooke, Karen (Kerry) Wynn, Sherry (Tom) Moore, Steve (Janet) Brooke, and eight grandchildren, Randy Brooke, Ryan Brooke, Josiah Wynn, Travis (Kristina) Moore, Shannon (Bryan) Regnier, Kathleen (Cory) Billings, Rebecca Brooke, and John Brooke. A celebration of Joy's life will be held at First Baptist Lake Park on Friday at 5:30 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be at South Florida VA National Cemetery on Monday, July 18. Arrangements are being handled by Palm Beach National Chapel.
