Obituary

Joseph Guzzi, 85, of Delray Beach, Florida was born on March 19, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. He entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 27, 2023. He is survived by his wife Denise Guzzi of 38 years and their son Donald Guzzi and daughter-in-law Nichole. He is also survived by his children Constance, Anthony, Troy and John. Also left to treasure his memory are his sister Connie Pallotta and her partner Phyllis Haas, and brother Thomas Guzzi and wife Terry. He is also cherished by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cynthia and Thomas Twombly and his nieces, nephews and other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Sophie and Anthony Guzzi.

Joe was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army and loved staying connected with his fellow veterans throughout the years. In his early career Joe could be found fixing anything, his talents ranged from rebuilding cars to renovating homes. He was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. His love of music and his vocal expertise singing Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Engelbert and others, always drew a crowd in the Karaoke Lounges on his many cruises. He was an amazing man and had a love of the ocean. He was able to fulfill his dream and become a Master Scuba Diving Instructor, open his own dive store, UnderSea, and shared his enthusiasm with his wife Denise and his many students and eventually he shared this passion with his son Donald.

Joe was always the life of the party and loved to strike up a conversation with everyone. He believed everyone had a story to share and he enjoyed meeting his neighbors and making new friends. Because he could always be found outside in the driveway, he was lovingly referred to as the "Mayor." Not only was he loved by his neighbors but he was adored and respected by his son Don and all his friends. Joe provided daily school pickup and drop in the "GUZZI MOBILE" and was always ready to lend an ear. It was said best by one of the boys, "Through a few acts of kindness everyday he was an inspiration and provided invaluable advice and wisdom throughout their growing years." To this day Joe considered these neighborhood kids all his boys. (you know who you are).

Joe was a strong fighter and inevitably lost his battle with cancer. He is now sailing on a journey to shores we cannot see. He was a beautiful person inside and out and his smile was so contagious it could light up a room. He cared so deeply for his family and friends, and was so kind and compassionate. He has made an impact on many lives and he will be forever missed.
