Obituary

Joseph James Franze Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, and generous soul who touched the lives of all who knew him, passed away on May 29, 2026 at his home in Tequesta, Florida, after a courageous battle with dementia. He was born on February 6, 1946, in the Bronx, New York, where he grew up and built the foundation of a life defined by service, loyalty, and an unwavering dedication to family.

On September 17, 1966, Joseph married the love of his life, Joan A. Franze, beginning a partnership that would become the cornerstone of their family. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and an abundance of love. Joseph was a man of remarkable strength and selflessness, qualities that guided him through every chapter of his life.

Joseph spent his career at Consolidated Edison, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his tireless work ethic and dependability. After decades of dedicated service, he retired from Consolidated Edison in 2001, turning his attention fully to the people and pursuits he cherished most. Retirement opened a new chapter filled with travel and adventure. Joseph and Joan shared a passion for cruising and exploring new destinations, creating memories that their family will treasure forever. Above all, Joseph found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones, doting over them with a generosity of spirit that was unmistakable to everyone around him.

Joseph's commitment to community was a defining feature of his character. He served as a soccer coach, shaping young athletes and instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. He held the positions of both President and Vice President of the Homeowners Association at Nautica, where his leadership and dedication made a lasting impact. He was an active member of the Entertainment and Veteran's Committee's at Valencia Reserve, bringing people together through shared celebration. He also volunteered with Citizens on Patrol, demonstrating his deep concern for the safety and well-being of his neighbors.

Altruistic, strong, devoted, and generous, Joseph lived his life in service to others. He gave freely of his time, his energy, and his heart, never asking for anything in return. Those who knew him understood that his greatest gift was the way he made others feel valued, protected, and loved.

Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan A. Franze. He is survived by his son, Frank Franze; his daughter, Christine Marton; his daughter in law Robin Franze; his grandchildren, Anthony Franze, Nicholas Franze, Riannon Marton and Ariana Marton; and his brother, Vincent Franze; and many cherished family members. Each of them carries forward the legacy of love and devotion that Joseph so faithfully built throughout his life.

A gathering will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Beach National Funeral Home and Chapel, 10055 Heritage Farms Road, Lake Worth, Florida 33449. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately, following the Celebration of Life service, everyone will join at 3:00 PM at Mamma Mia's Trattoria, 8855 Hypoluxo Rd, Lake Worth, FL 33467

May he now rest in the peace and grace that his faith promised, reunited with his beloved Joan, free from suffering and whole once more.

The family would like to thank their extended family, friends, and coworkers for their continued support through this difficult time. Joseph's light will not be forgotten, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
