Joseph, affectionately called Joe, was born on October 24, 1945 in Vallejo, California. He attended
high school and college in Boston, MA. He was a Boy Scout and also an Altar Boy at his Catholic
Church in Boston. He graduated as a pilot and served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a flight
engineer based in Turkey. After his service, he worked for Delta Airlines as an airframe and
powerplant mechanic. He then joined a team from Boeing in 1975 to support the introduction of
the Boeing 747 in Iraq. He continued his career in Boeing as a field service representative with
assignments supporting airlines in the U.S., Morocco, and Brazil.
He was loved and respected by all the people he worked with and made good friends at all the
airline companies where he was stationed. He was a big guy who treated everyone with kindness
and respect. Joe retired from Boeing in 2007 and settled in Delray with his wife, Gilva. He loved
playing tennis and won many trophies playing against other communities. He made very good
friends in the Vizcaya community during his 15 years living there. Joe and his wife loved to take
cruises in the US, Caribbean, Europe and Asia. He was selected for an Honor Flight to Washington,
D.C., in 2017, which takes veterans to visit the Veterans Memorial. Joe was proud of his family, his
service to his country and his career in Boeing. He will be remembered and missed by many from
all over the world. He was an admirable man!
