John Thomas Cambia, 95, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away on July 8, 2022, surrounded by
his family.

John was born on November 20, 1926, to John and Helen (Barry) Cambia in Providence, Rhode
Island. John graduated from Nelson W. Aldrich High School in Warwick, Rhode Island. He
graduated from Providence Country Day School and the Maine Maritime Academy and later
attended the University of Rhode Island and Pace University. He completed Marine basic
training in Paris Island, South Carolina, and during the Korean War, he served in the Army from
1952 – 1954, earning a National Defense Medal.

In 1955, he married the love of his life, Barbara. The two were inseparable and were married
for 67 years, always together and never apart. They shared a beautiful life with their adoring
daughters, Jocelyn and Barbara Lynn.
John was a family man and a hard worker. He found a passion for merchandising when he
enrolled in the Jordan Marsh Executive training program. With time, he was named the
Executive Vice President of Kline Brothers based in New York City. He worked for more than 25
years commuting from Connecticut and once was awarded "Commuter of the Year" by friends.
Post-retirement, John acquired a small boutique chain, Carolina Closet, and relocated to Hilton
Head, South Carolina. He was a New York Athletic club member and completed eight New York
City Marathons. His love for the ocean was evident in the time he spent boating on the Long
Island Sound and Narragansett Bay.

He will be remembered for his generous nature, kind soul, and humor. John is survived by his
devoted wife of 67 years, Barbara, and two loving daughters, Jocelyn and Barbara Lynn, along
with many dear friends. All will sorely miss him.

A mass will be held at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida, on Tuesday, August 2,
2022, at 11 a.m., followed by the interment at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake
Worth, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Wounded Veterans Relief Fund a
local organization providing emergency financial support to qualified disabled veterans
living in Florida. 85% of donations go directly toward veteran assistance. Donations may
