OBITUARY OF OVERSEER, APOSTLE JOANN F. BROWN
Inspiring, charismatic, dynamic, and a true motivator—these words only begin to describe the unforgettable life and legacy of Overseer and Apostle Joann F. Brown. A devoted servant of God, Apostle Brown faithfully shepherded and inspired lives with unwavering passion and purpose.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Apostle Brown accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, beginning a lifelong journey of ministry, leadership, mentorship, and service. In 1977, she embraced her calling to pastor and served as Overseer and Pastor of Shiloh Living Word Ministries, where she ministered faithfully and continuously with grace, compassion, and spiritual authority. She was a licensed and ordained Elder, profoundly respected for her strength, vision, and unwavering dedication to the Kingdom of God.
Apostle Brown was also a gifted author and publisher, sharing spiritual wisdom in her book, "And The Spirit Speaks," a work that continues to uplift and guide believers around the world.
Her academic achievements reflect her lifelong commitment to learning and service. She graduated from New York University with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and later achieved a second Bachelor's of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Connecticut.
Professionally, she served her community with exceptional dedication, including roles as a member of the Florida Nurse's Association, Teen Pregnancy Outreach, and as a School Health Nurse, providing vital services in drug abuse education, HIV pre-and-post counseling, and youth health advocacy.
Apostle Brown's ministry extended far beyond the pulpit. With the support of a dedicated leadership team, she cultivated powerful programs that touched countless lives. Among them was the Teen Ministry "T.I.A.C.H.E.S.", a transformative outreach providing guidance, support, and hope to young people. Through this ministry, she passionately steered youth away from drugs, destructive influences, and into the loving hands of God. Her integrity, compassion, and deep concern for developing young leaders made her a powerful force for change in the lives of families and communities.
A gifted preacher and lecturer, Apostle Brown was highly sought after to minister at churches, colleges, conferences, and civic programs across the country and internationally. Her ministry reached global audiences, taking her as far as Germany, Italy, and Dubai, where she carried the Gospel with both wisdom and prophetic grace.
Apostle Joann Brown made her home in the community of Wellington, Florida, where she lovingly raised and nurtured her family. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Cecelia Grant and Carl Grant, who welcomed her into eternal rest.
She leaves to cherish her legacy two devoted adult children, whom she affectionately called "Tee" and "Chon"; two precious granddaughters, Alanah and Milania; a loving church family; and countless spiritual sons, daughters, mentees, and friends whose lives were forever changed by her prayers, leadership, and faith.
Apostle Joann F. Brown's life was a living testimony of faith, perseverance, excellence, and love. She leaves a rich legacy of ministry, service, empowerment, and spiritual transformation that will continue to inspire generations. To know her was to feel seen, uplifted, encouraged, and closer to God. Her earthly assignment was fulfilled with honor, and she now rests in the eternal arms of her Savior—having touched countless lives and leaving the world immeasurably better than she found it.
Her voice lives on.
Her teachings live on.
Her legacy lives on.
Her spirit remains forever in our hearts.
