Obituary

Wong, Henry Norman, of Boca Raton, Florida, entered the next life on Friday, July 24th, 2020. Born on February 19th, 1930 in Papine, Jamaica (West Indies), son of Wong Get Chin (father), and Wong Lue Shee (mother), both of whom emigrated from China to the New World. With the onset of World War 2, his family was never able to make the desired return to their homeland. As a member of the Hakka Tribe (which prohibited the binding of girls' feet--as was the historical practice in China) he conversed fluently in that dialect, and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren many Chinese phrases and sayings.
He thrived in the world of business and industry, eventually marrying  his love, Holly Mae (nee Fong). The family eventually emigrated in August of 1978 to the United States, settling first in Bramwell, West Virginia, and then to Boca Raton, Florida, for the remaining 40 years of his life.
Although Parkinson's Disease eventually reduced his mobility, he never ceased to be amazed with the many advances of society and technology which he had witnessed over the years. A consummate professional, he continued to be fascinated with the growth of the real estate industry in South Florida. As an example of his prodigious memory, during a visit for his last birthday, he provided visiting family with a wonderful and detailed tour of the hidden neighborhood gems in Boca Raton-
-making fanciful but concrete plans with his youngest grandchild for their various purchases.
He is survived by son, Philip, daughter-in-law Claire (nee Swann) grandchildren Elizabeth (spouse Ian Barnstead), Samuel, Helena, Joshua, Therese; and daughter Dr. Jennifer Wong-Looi (spouse David Looi), granddaughters Danielle and Jasmine. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Holly in 2006, and a daughter and son whom they lost soon after childbirth. His beloved sister, Mary, predeceased him only the previous year. His other sisters, Jenny, Cindy and his brother Aston, also predeceased him. He is survived by his sister Agnes Fong-Yee in Canada.
He drew great strength from his Christian faith, which reminded him from  Job 19: "I know that my redeemer lives, . . . and from my flesh I will see God: I will see for myself, my own eyes, not another's will behold Him: my innermost being is consumed with longing."
