Obituary

Harry L. Vickery, 74, of Lantana, Florida, was called back home to join those before him on Monday, September 13, 2021 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Harry was born in Penns Grove, NJ to Emerson and Thelma Vickery on May 6, 1947. He grew up with one sibling, Dorothy (Vickery) Bennett. Harry graduated from Penns Grove High School in 1965, studied aviation mechanics in Somerset, Kentucky and received an associate's degree in Computer Programming from New England Institute of Technology in 1999.

He married Nancy (Willis) Vickery in 1968 and went on to have four children, Erika, Jason, Kevin and Timothy.

He worked as a Jet Engine and Test Maintenance Mechanic for Pratt & Whitney for over 35 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War while serving in the United States Air Force. He later enlisted in the Florida National Guard where he served for over 20 years. He was deeply involved in his childrens' lives that included the coaching of baseball teams, volunteering at school functions, graduation projects, providing transportation and anything else needed. After retirement he joined the town's Citizen Observer Patrol team and assisted the local police department. He enjoyed conversing with anyone and everyone, spending time with family, rooting for his hometown favorite Philadelphia sports teams and found joy in painting.

Harry is survived by his wife, Nancy Vickery, children, Erika (Vickery) & Michael Bryant, Jason Vickery & Victoria Lipinski, Kevin Vickery, Timothy & Claire (Palafox) Vickery, grandchildren, Sadie Vickery, Logan Vickery, Zachary Lipinski, Kyleigh Lipinski & Tristan Bryant, sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Vickery) & Frank Bennett, an aunt & uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at Palm Beach National Chapel at 10055 Heritage Farms Road, Lake Worth, Florida 33449 on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Visitation will precede from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. He will be laid to rest at Palm Beach National Cemetery. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made instead to American Cancer Society (donate3.cancer.org), Gary Sinise Foundation (www.garysinisefoundation.org) or Wounded Warriors Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
