Gerald Carter, 88, Jupiter, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 following a brief illness. Mr. Carter was born August 5, 1924 in Snow Hill, West Virginia to the late Silas & Jenny (Dorsey) Carter and moved to the Jupiter area in 1981 from Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was a proud United States Navy veteran serving over 25 years and in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He started Jerey's Upholstery Shop in 1983 and his children continue to run the business today. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty (Shive) Carter of Jupiter; sons, Robert (Judy) Carter of Jupiter; William Carter of Harrisonburg, VA; daughter, Sharon Carter of Jupiter; grandchildren, Jennifer; Lindsey; Jeffrey; Chelsey; Travis and Ryan; great-grandson, Jordan Albert.

Funeral Services for Mr. Carter will be held Friday, September 14, 2012 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Palm Beach National Chapel. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 10:30 - 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at South Florida National Cemetery with full military honors.
