IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floyd Ellis
Sims
June 6, 1928 – July 26, 2019
Floyd Ellis Sims, 91, passed away peacefully on July 26 in Coconut Creek, Florida. Floyd is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Patricia, his adoring daughter Sharon, his dedicated sons Michael and Greg, his grandson Justin Shields, and his daughters-in-law Bibiana and Gisele.
Born and raised in Damon, Texas, Floyd was one of 10 brothers and the son of the late Charles Edward and Mary Edna Sims. As a child, he grew up on a working farm in a small Texas town, tending to day-to-day chores while he attended school. After graduating from high school, Floyd attended college, met and later married the love of his life in 1953, served in the U.S. Navy and later retired as a chaplain. He received his Master's degree and went on to serve as a middle school teacher and guidance counselor in Miami. Floyd retired almost 30 years ago together with his wife to spend quality time with family.
A kind, gentle, devoted and faithful man, Floyd proudly served God and his church, his country, and his family with dignity, love and compassion. His southern hospitality and charm, sparkling smile, twinkling eyes, endearing Texas drawl, contagious laughter, quick wit, generosity, and delightful sense of humor entertained and enchanted his family and friends – not just on special occasions but year-round. Those who were fortunate to know Floyd, knew that they were blessed, cared for, and loved because he was dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, teacher, mentor, and chaplain who always put the needs of others before his own.
Floyd joins his beloved grandsons Jordan Shields and Christian Salazar Sims and many other loved ones in Heaven for all eternity in the presence of our Lord and Savior. He will be deeply missed by his doting wife, his children, family, and many friends who adored him and relied on him for strength, encouragement, support and most of all for his incredible heart and his everlasting love. "Pa," we were blessed to know you and to have you in our lives. You will live in our hearts forever and through our precious memories of time spent with you.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35, 37- 39
