Born in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in East Meadow, Long Island, NY from 1953-1990 when he moved to Delray Beach, Florida.
He was an electrician's mate in the navy. When he came home, he married Helen O'Neill and was happy for 65 years. He then graduated from Hofstra University. He has two children Tina Marie and Carol, three grandchildren Jonathan Hatgis, Ryan Elizabeth Koleda, and Dennis Koleda, and one great grandson John Steven Hatgis.
He loved to bowl, golf, play softball, play polka, and swim.
