Obituary

Eula Erma Richards

93 years old, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013. Born June 9, 1920 in Moundsville, W.Va, the daughter of the late William Hubert Holmes and Alma Rine Holmes and she had been a resident of Boynton Beach Since 1996.

Survived by her loving daughter, Carolyn Elaine Thompson of West Palm Beach and loving sisters Maverene (George) Redd, Glen Dale, W. Va., Lorraine (Roger) Hubbs and Marilyn (Charles) Rulong of Moundsville, W.Va., and Ardith Holmes of Tampa. Preceded in death by her loving husband Carroll Junior Richards, and brothers Harold E. Holmes, William Hubert Holmes, Jr., and sister Clarice Burt.

She was a wonderful mother, wife, homemaker, seamstress, and avid gardener. She could make all crafts and taught herself to sew, knit, crochet, tatting, and quilting. Her quilts were prize winning along with the many clothes she sewed. An animal lover, she and her late husband raised beagle dogs and participated in many field trials with their dogs. She loved roses and had beautiful gardens of roses for fifty years. She was a National Rose Society Judge and Consultant and was decorated with many awards. She shared her roses with hospitals, nursing homes, friends, and her kindness was received by many. Her Christian faith was central to her life and her favorite inspirational verse was:
"It's not what you gather but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived."
A very honest, good woman, loyal and totally dedicated to her daughter and husband of seventy two years and the most beloved mother a daughter could ever have.
