Emmett Lambert Stroscheim, 89, died on December 21, 2011 at the VA Hospital Hospice in West Palm Beach, Florida from various health complications. A memorial will be held 1:00 pm, January 20, 2011 at the Palm Beach National Chapel with a military burial at the South Florida National Cemetery.

Emmett (aka Big "E" or Ross) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 5, 1922 and was the son of Lambert and Marie Stroscheim. As a teenager, he sang on a local radio station and was a competitive diver. At age 17, he joined the World War II effort where he became a Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. His heroism included jumping into Bastogne as part of the Battle of the Bulge in January 1945. After the war, he moved to Seattle where he became a salesman in the beer industry. His job moved him every couple years to various cities throughout Washington, eventually moving to Oregon in 1964 as a District Manager for Carling Brewing Company. He left Carling and built, owned and operated Stroshausen's Hofbrau, a bar/restaurant in Hillsboro, Oregon. In 1973 he sold the Hofbrau and joined Reser's Fine Foods where he led the expansion of the company from a regional market into a nationwide presence. Emmett retired in 1985 to Cornelius, Oregon where he enjoyed golfing, fishing, BBQing and hanging out with his buddies. He was a 60-year, life member, of the Elks Lodge 1862. In October, 2010, health issues led to his moving to West Palm Beach, Florida.

We have lost the presence of a patriotic, generous father and friend, who filled lives with his charismatic personality, sense of humor, and a passion to do better.

He is survived by his wife Jane, three sons, Steven Chandler, James Stroscheim (Deborah), and Richard Stroscheim (Kathy); two daughters, Karen Naff (Monte) and Deena Chandler-Popish (Lou), 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
