Obituary

On Sunday, March 14, 2021, Elizabeth Carollo , a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend, passed away at the age of 75.

Lily was born on November 7, 1945, in Baile Atha Cliath / Dublin, Ireland, to Patrick and Elizabeth Moran. She and her family lived in both Ireland and England before moving to New York when she was just in her early teens. They traveled by sea on the Queen Mary to the United States to start a new life and build a home together.

Before Lily moved to the U.S., she was a runner. Her great athleticism and drive nearly took her to the olympics, but her family made a monumental decision to start anew in the States. During her life in the U.S., Lily started her own family after meeting the love of her life in 1968. It began with a blind date and a dance floor and evolved into a beautiful marriage. On Valentine's Day in 1970, she and Frank Carollo eloped. She wore yellow the day she said "I do." Soon after, she gave birth to her son Frank Jr. and went on to have two more beautiful children with her husband. Vincent and Renee.

As a family, they began their life together in Long Island, New York. Little more than a decade later, they moved upstate to Saratoga Springs, where they managed the Horseshoe, a successful family restaurant that they all helped out in. Horses were always around and a big part of their children's childhood, especially their daughter.

Lily took care of her children and watched them grow. And when they were grown, grandkids began to bring joy into her and her husband's life, as well.

In the '90s, she and Frank made the decision to move to sunny south Florida. They bought a home in Boynton Beach that they would share for the next 22 years and grow old together in. And they invested so much love and energy into that shared space, even remodeling everything. Lily was always the eye and Frankie the muscle. Together they built a dream home.

Up until her retirement, she loved making her rounds as a bus driver. She drove kids and the elderly and knew people by name. She would joke and laugh with everyone in her Irish lilt and was a masterful storyteller. She always looked nice and put together and loved a good night out.

Her and her husband also made it a priority to travel, making their way to Caribbean Islands and different countries, like Italy and Mexico. They cruised in the Atlantic and spent days soaking up sun and culture.

And every holiday (or any normal day of the year), Lily would make sure her family felt loved and at home, even if they were far away. She would send cards, make routine phone calls, feed anyone and everyone who stepped through her door (she was an amazing cook), and she'd support her loved ones and friends in any way that should could.

Lily will be remembered for her brilliant smile, huge heart, caring nature, incredible wit, great dance moves, and her unwavering ability to light up a room.

She was preceded in her passing by her parents, brothers and sisters Rosaleen, Desmond, Patrick, Sean, and Helen, and her beloved grandson Frankie. She is survived by her husband Frank, her children Frank Jr., Vincent, and Renee, her sister Bernadette Scuderi, and her grandchildren, Anthony, Christena, Lily, Ryan, Isaiah, and Jason, and a large family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021, at Palm Beach National Chapel located at 10055 Heritage Farms Rd, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
