Eleanor R.
Fried
December 7, 1938 – February 6, 2025
Eleanor Rena Fried (86) of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully under hospice care on February 6, 2025. She was born in Savannah, Georgia, on December 7, 1938, truly a day of infamy, to the late Zelda and Louie Wolson as their middle daughter. Eleanor loved her family and close friends. She served as president of the Sisterhood and is a lifetime member of Congregation Banai Brith Jacob.
She met and married the love of her life, Lawrence Fried, an Air Force Airman, in 1957. They have two children, Joseph and Brian. She lived in Savannah for 66 years and moved to Delray Beach in 2004 to be close to her family.
Eleanor and Larry were married for 67 years. She is survived by her husband, Larry; her sons Brian and Joseph; his wife, Karen; Joseph's two daughters, Hilary Chupp and Kathryn Fried; Hilary's husband, Dr. Joshua Chupp; their children, Benjamin and Maddie and Kathryn's son, grandchild, Elijah, her sisters Arlene (Cookie) Yellin and Rebbeca Stein, and her life- long friend Arlene Coleman. She is also survived by her "adopted" family, Cynthia Waine Brandt and Grady Britt, and preceded by Bobby Evans.
The family requests that contributions be made in Eleanor's memory to Rambam Day School, 111 Atlas St., Savannah, GA 31405, Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob, 5444 Abercorn St., Savannah, GA 31405, or any local Hospice Organization. Love and comfort to all whose lives Eleanor touched.
