IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Jancik
Yeck
March 30, 1937 – May 7, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Jancik Yeck, who departed this life on May 7, 2025, at the beautiful age of 88. Dorothy was a devoted wife, cherished mother, generous grandmother, and a true friend whose warmth and kindness impacted all who knew her.
Dorothy was renowned for her infectious spirit, extreme generosity, and her ability to find joy in simple moments. She had a fervent passion for baking, often dedicating countless hours creating numerous assortments of sweet pastries, cakes and pies. Her home was always a welcoming haven filled with laughter, love, including the delightful aromas of her renowned home-cooked meals and desserts, which she graciously shared with family and friends.
Dorothy was born in Ontario, Canada and came from a modest upbringing working on her parent's farm where she would milk cows and tend to the farm animals before walking to school every day. During her young adult years, she enjoyed listening to polka bands, which led to her meeting the love of her life Matthew Charles Yeck (deceased 2010), who at the time was an aspiring band leader of the Silver Stars. He became a career Army pilot which provided the foundation to start a family and secure their future. The connection was instantaneous and was the beginning of 52 years of marriage that they shared, traveling the world and making memories with their family.
Although born and raised in Canada, she became a United States citizen in which she became fiercely patriotic and her love for her country was undeniable. Over the years she was instrumental in family celebrations, entertaining guests in her home and sharing whatever she had with those that were in her presence. Her smile was radiant, her wit was sharp and her marriage with her husband as an officer's wife granted her the grace and elegance that only she could pull off.
Dorothy leaves behind her 3 beloved children, Patrick, Daniel and Vincent (Monique FitzPatrick) and her grandchildren, Kirsten, Matthew, Evan, and Ahleah and her step grandchildren, Abigail & Hailey FitzPatrick. She provided and gave unselfishly, imparting wisdom and love to all family members unconditionally. Although there are too many to list here, she is survived by many beloved relatives and dear friends.
As we commemorate Dorothy, we honor her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. She will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 9:00AM at the Palm Beach National Funeral Home and Chapel, where family and friends are invited to share their memories and pay tribute to her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center (ADRC) in Central Florida, 1410 Gene Street, Winter Park, FL 32789, a cause that held significant importance to Dorothy Yeck.
