Mrs. Dorothy (Bates) Ste idl , Dotty, Mom, Aunt Dotty, Nani passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021 in Boynton Beach, Fla.
A second generation Emerson, NJ native, born to Melburn Bates and Fanny Argenzia on October 26, 1934.
Dorothy was one of five girls! Mary/Marie, (husband , Albert Clayton) , Kathleen /Kay , (husband Anthony Ru bino ), Marjorie/Margie , ( husband Robert Arnaudin ), and Elenor /Ellie , ( husband , Ray Houlette ) . They would talk and laugh on a daily basis sharing their lives, even though apart.
During high school she worked at the Feed and Grain store in Westwood as a bookkeeper. This was her first of many jobs she would have over the years. She became an Avon consultant , a travel agent, school bus driver, and a Curtis Wright bookkeeper. Curtis Wright is where Dotty and Ron met in 1956. It was love at first sight. They were engaged a few months later and wer e married on October 26, 1957. They have been happily married for almost 65 years!
Dotty and Ron raised their two children Ron ald/Ronny (wife, Patti) and K aren, (husband, Scott) in Emerson. Her most rewarding job of all was being their mother.
Upon retiring Dotty and Ron moved to Royal Manor in Boynton Beach, Florida. Dotty w orked at Lauria's Department Store selling jewelry. (One of her favorite things!) She was president of the Women's Club at Royal Manor. Sh e also started and ran a Social club there. Here they had wonderful parties with dinners and dancing! (Another favorite thing!) Later she became a "red hat" lady. Dotty always had a s mile on her face and willing to l end a helping hand!
She was a loving Nani to Ryan, Brandon and Samantha.
She was Aunt D otty to Thomas (wife, Sue) , and Daniel Clayton; Antho ny Jr., Richard, and William Rubino ; Lo ra Winchell; Lynda Wiley ; Deborah, Ro bert , Patricia, Kenneth, Alliso n, Suzanne and Matthew Arnaudin .
She was also Great Aunt Dotty to Taylor, Cody, Aimee, El len, Kat ie, Lindsey, Kelsey, Mason , Cammie , a nd Emma Rae.
