Dorothy “Dolly” Bridgeo Cahoon, 92, of South Florida, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026. Born April 12, 1934, in Shirley, Massachusetts, to Maud Hoard Bridgeo and Cecil Southwick Bridgeo, Dolly was one of eleven children.

Known to everyone as “Dolly”, a nickname given to her as a child due to her petite stature and likeness to a doll. She carried a spirit—kindness, quick humor, clever practical jokes, and a generous heart. Dolly was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She had a gift for storytelling, and loved social gatherings of all kinds. After raising her six children, she built a career in the Real Estate and Investment department at Travelers Insurance in Hartford, Connecticut, where she formed lifelong friendships. Later, she brought the same organizing energy to the Bellaggio Culture Club, happily reviewing, scheduling, and attending clubhouse performances.

She found joy in arranging flowers, playing dominoes and Scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. More than anything, she loved family gatherings and teaching children crafts and practical skills from a very young age. Those who knew her will smile at the memory of her cheerful “Yooo Hooo” when she wanted attention and her signature “Okey Dokey” that closed phone conversations.

Dolly leaves a legacy of love, resilience, generosity, quiet strength, and laughter. She is survived by her sons Daniel Cahoon of Boca Raton, FL; Gary Cahoon of Deerfield Beach, FL; and Wayne Cahoon of Granby, CT, her daughters Gail Clark of Attleboro, MA; Lori Neill of Leland, NC; and Marie Cahoon of Abilene, TX; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her siblings Helen Wood, David Bridgeo, Susan Bridgeo, and Brenda McGuire. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Ernest “Ernie” M. Cahoon, and by her siblings Joyce Wick, Robert Bridgeo, Tommy Bridgeo, Frank Bridgeo, Betty Hagianis, and Rita Bridgeo.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on August 27 at the Palm Beach National Chapel, 10055 Heritage Farms Road, Lake Worth, Florida, followed by inurnment at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 SR-7 South, Lake Worth.

The family asks that Dolly be remembered in the simple ways she lived—by laughing and loving others well.
