Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Lee Grosklos Parson, who passed away peacefully in her home on May 7, 2025, surrounded by family, after a hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. The daughter of Norman and Florine "Flossy" Grosklos, she was born September 1, 1942, in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania. Growing up in the close-knit community of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, Donna carried the warmth and spirit of her hometown throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Florine Grosklos and brother, Thomas Grosklos. She was 82 years young.

Donna was a devoted wife to James Parson, with whom she shared a love story of devotion since 1965. Together, they built a beautiful life and family. Donna loved to read and was a member of the Indiana Card Club, meeting monthly for over 40 years. After her children began school, she worked as a teacher's assistant for students with disabilities, where she cared for her students as if they were her own. She was also an avid fan of all sports, especially the ones her beloved grandchildren played. From the football field to dance recitals, Donna always made it a priority to go to every event, even travelling from Pennsylvania to Florida several times a year. The Pittsburgh Steelers also held a special place in her heart, passionately cheering them on through every season.

She was a cherished mother to her three children, James (Lori) Parson, Jennifer (David) Ferguson, and Janice (Brian) Coe, and a beloved grandmother to her seven grandchildren: James "Trip", Jasmine, and Vivianna Parson, Brian Jr. and Cameron Coe, Cassandra and Katie Ferguson. Her grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Donna will always be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and for her overwhelming kindness as a friend, mentor, and second mother to so many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, cherished moments, and Steelers pride that will be deeply missed.

She was the ultimate Proverbs 31 woman, Proverbs 31:10: "She is worth far more than rubies". Proverbs 31:28: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her".
