Don Kirk Peerson, 83, of Wellington, FL, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2019 with his family at his side.

Don was born in Vincent, Alabama.  He graduated from Barnwell High School (SC) in 1957.  He attended the University of Montevall (AL) and other educational institutions throughout his life.

Don joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1961.

In 1963, because of his love of tropical weather, fishing and hanging out at the beach, Don moved to Palm Beach County where he began his career with the Department of Corrections (Glades Correctional Institution and Lantana Correction Institution).  He retired as a Lieutenant in 1992.

Don was a loving, devoted and doting husband, papa, grandpa, brother and uncle.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joyce; step-daughter, Linda "DeEdra" (Lynn, Vassalotti) Jackson (Tom); step-grandsons: Aaron Vassalotti (Angie), Chace, Collin, and Cameron Jackson; step-great-grandsons: Aiden and Elijah Vassalotti; nephews: Dr. Craig Davis and Joe Kirk Peerson; niece, Lynn Peerson Butts; sister-in-law, Linda Hood Cardin (Joe); nieces-in-law: Pamela Cardin Buckman (Owen) and Krista Cardin Neilson (Geoff); great-nieces-in-law: Jordyn Buckman and Charlotte Neilson; great-nephew-in-law, Jake Buckman.

Don was predeceased by his father, James Kirk Peerson (1982); mother, Rilla Melinda Morrell Peerson (1978); brother, Joe Morrell Peerson (1996) and sister, Rilla Irene Davis (5/29/2019).

At Don's request, there will be a private, no-service, family viewing in the Palm Beach National Chapel at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, September 25th.  Burial will follow at the South Florida National Cemetery.
