Obituary

Senior Airman, Derek Olsen Rodriguez USAF, beloved son, brother and uncle, passed away on Saturday,  February 20, 2021, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is survived by his parents, Diana Rodriguez of Jupiter,  Florida, and Orland Rodriguez, of Palm City Florida. His partner, Kristen Pierson and her daughter,  Danica of Virginia Bch, Va. He also leaves behind his sisters, Juliana Rodriguez and partner Jeremiah  Murphy, Leila Hill and husband Carl, and Lauren Rodriguez-Kirk and husband Randy, his niece and nephew, Isabella and Ivan Kirk, his grandmother, Dottie Kuhl, his aunts, Debbie Collado and husband  Hector and his aunt Mimi Jova, his uncle, Jeff Olsen and wife Traci, and many loving cousins and  countless friends.

Derek was born on June 27, 1992 in Coral Springs, Florida. He grew up in Lake Worth, Florida, graduating  in 2010, from Park Vista High School. Derek was a natural athlete throughout school, excelling in  basketball, ice hockey and especially in soccer. As an adult, his greatest passion was snowboarding.

Derek spent the last seven years serving his country in the Air Force. He was very proud to be from  FLORIDA! He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Utah and was most recently stationed at Langley AFB in  Virginia assigned to the 633d Logistics Readiness Squadron. His military career took him to many  corners of the world, including Texas, Utah, Japan, Guam, Alaska and Qatar. During his time in the  military, he received many honors and accolades, and was loved and admired by friends and fellow  airman.

Derek was known for and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his joy for life, his  kindness and his love for family and friends. He was always smiling!

A full military burial will be held at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, followed by a private  gravesite service with family and close friends. A celebration of life will be held on March 20, 2021, from  10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at Jupiter Beach Pavilion.
