Staff Sergeant Cory Javante Lezama, age 34, drew his final breath and answered his highest roll call on August 3, 2026. Born on June 7, 1992 to parents Gary & Lisa Lezama. SSG Lezama was a man who looked at the world in vivid color, sharp lines, and perfect rhythm.SSG Lezama proudly served his country in the United States Army, bringing a unique, creative perspective to his military duties. As a staff Sergeant, he led his soldiers with discipline and care, commanding respect not just through his rank , but through his authentic character. He understood that life in uniform required structure, but he always found a way to stay creative outside the lines. He treated his notebooks like a dual canvas- using his free time to master the art of the rhyme and the stroke of the pen.To Cory, rapping and drawing were his ways of processing the weight of his duties. He could illustrate a story just as easily with a microphone as he could with a pencil. Whether he was mapping out intricate lyrics inspired by J. Cole or shading in a detail sketch, his mind was constantly creating. He drew people together with his magnetic energy, and he designed a life rooted in loyalty, laughter, and love. In laughter-filled gatherings, in simple acts of caring, Cory's legacy continues-woven into the hearts of those who will forever hold him close.Cory's story is written not just in the milestone reached, but in the moments: the smile that evoked warmth in others, the wisdom offered in quiet conversation, the resilient spirit that inspired everyone he knew. His final watch has ended, his mic is at rest, and his pencil has been laid down, but the masterpiece of his life is complete. The lines he drew in our hearts and the verses he left behind will stay on loop forever.
He remains the deeply cherished son of Gary & Lisa Lezama ; the beloved father of Kairo ; beloved brother of Camron & Ashley; beloved uncle of Sapphire & Kayden; and a legendary brother-in-arms to his fellow soldiers. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind a wonderful group of uncles, aunts, and cousins who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by a circle of devoted, life-long friends who were truly his chosen family.
A Celebration of Cory's life and art will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Palm Beach National Funeral Home and Chapel, 10055 Heritage Farms Road, Lake Worth, Florida 33449.
