Clarence Eugene "Gene" Jacobs born in Pulaski, Illinois on August 26 th , 1933, passed away on March 18 th ,
2019. Son of William Clarence Jacobs and Doshea Jacobs, Gene was a loving and devoted husband and father.
He is survived by Sharon, his wife of 61 years and his son, Peter. Gene was the second of ten children: John,
Etha, James, and Dale (all predeceased), and survived by Jack, Eileen, Betsy, Judy, and Jerry. Gene will also be
forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Gene was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War where he acted as Morse code interpreter
and cryptographer, intercepting and decoding encrypted messages. Gene also had top secret security clearance
as an agent for the American Security Agency (now known as the National Security Agency), information that
has only recently been declassified. Gene will be forever remembered for his devotion to his family, his
determination, his mechanical skills, his smile, his sense of humor, and his love for his country.
Memorial services will be held at Palm Beach National Memorial Chapel at 10055 Heritage Farm Road, Lake
Worth, Florida on Tuesday, April 2 nd at 12:30 PM. The Military Honor Guard Funeral will be immediately
afterward from 1:30 to 2:00 PM at the South Florida National Cemetery adjacent to the funeral chapel.
