IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Buford
Weeks
August 8, 1941 – November 3, 2021
Charles "Charlie" Buford Weeks, age 80, of Palm Beach Gardens, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Charles was predeceased by parents, John and Mary Morrison Weeks; sister, Judith Weeks Simmons; and survived by his wife, Catherine Weeks; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Weeks and Robert Toussaint; nephews, nieces, and other relatives from both sides of the family who all loved him dearly. Charles was born in Bokhoma, Oklahoma on August 8, 1941, before residing in different parts of Texas with his family. Growing up, Charles was a doting son and big brother. Charles learned independence and hard work at a young age. After serving three years in the National Guard for the State of Texas, Charles enlisted in the US Army in 1966. He was recognized as Chief Warrant Officer in 1969, having earned the Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
A Vietnam veteran and aviator, Charles served the country until being honorably discharged in 1973. After his discharge, he pursued additional qualifications and professional credentials in international aviation. Over the years, Charles worked as a helicopter pilot and performed related marketing work at the Helicopter Utilities PTY, LTD in Australia, National Utility Helicopters in Singapore, Evergreen Helicopters in the US, and Helikopter Service A/S in Norway. After two years of serving the American Airlines Training Corp as the Training Captain and Marketing Manager, Charles joined Sikorsky Aircraft in 1982 as the Marketing Manager until asked by the sister Company, Pratt & Whitney, to help strengthen their helicopter engines marketing effort as the Regional Manager for Turborshaft Engines from 2000 until 2003- when he retired. Over his aviation career, Charles accumulated an impressive total of 5,654 of flying hours!
In his leisure time, Charles' vast interests and hobbies ranged from golf, watching classical film re-runs, catching a baseball game every Wednesday, collecting recipes, feeding animals in his backyard, writing op-ed's, performing DIY maintenance work around the home, and many more. A member of the Quiet Birdmen and Sikorsky's South Florida retiree group, Charles cherished and looked forward to the respective monthly gatherings with these two groups. Charles was also a life-long traveler who had a passion for history, cultures, and good food; he always had many wonderful stories and fun facts to share of his experiences abroad. Coupled with his work ethic and compassion for others, Charles enlightened and inspired many others with his rich life experiences and values.
A devoted and loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend and mentor-figure to many, it is with no doubt that Charlie will leave behind fond memories that will vividly remain long after his passing. Charles will be remembered for his infectious smile, love for good scotch, and impressive ability to identify helicopter models just by sound.
