Charles "Charlie" Watling, 92, Lake Worth passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012. Charlie was born August 19, 1920 in Wayne, New York to the late Robert & Hazel (Walsh) Watling and moving to the Lake Worth area in 1960 from Victor, New York. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lake Worth and a proud United States Navy veteran and participating in the landing at Normandy on D-Day in World War II. He is predeceased by his first wife Hazel Watling. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Dorothy (Heiden) Watling of Lake Worth; daughter, Carol (Robert) Woodard of Wellington; brother, Eddie Watling of Geneva, NY; sisters, Loise Kiesling of Peoria, AZ; Harriett Weaver of Haslett, MI; Pauline Castle of Tioga, PA and Margaret Sorenson of Katy, TX.
A Memorial Service for Charlie will be held 9:30 am Thursday, September 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Palm Beach National Chapel. Inurnment will follow at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 425 North M Street, Lake Worth, FL 33460 or Hospice By The Sea, 1531 West Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486 in memory of Charlie.
